Man remanded over gangster death

A man charged with murdering Manchester gangland leader Desmond Noonan has been remanded in custody.
Derek McDuffus, 41, originally from south Manchester, appeared before Manchester magistrates on Wednesday.
Mr Noonan’s body was found in Merseybank Avenue, Chorlton, on 18 March. He had died from a knife wound.
Shajahan Cooke, 39, from Chorlton, was charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice and was also remanded in custody until next week.
Mr McDuffus and Ms Cooke are due to appear before Manchester Crown Court on 6 April.
