He writes his views of the MacIntyre Undercover programme on care which forced the care sector to change practises and the Government to force care staff to undergo proper training courses. I saw the film when it first went out and I was
very upset. So were many of my friends. I have looked at the film again
and some of the incidents which I saw were very worrying. Residents were sworn at by staff and shouted at. They were threatened with the fire extinguisher and kicked and pushed by people but were not able to get any help. The local social services said it was a good home but they did not know that staff knew when they were coming. It seemed to me and the experts from MENCAP,
BILD and the National Autistic Society said that the restraining in
the home was not good. To me it looked terrible. I am glad that I never
lived there. I am pleased that the BBC made the programme and I cannot understand why the Police said it was good home. Yours Sincerely Lloyd Page |
