A MAN and a woman were today charged in connection with the murder of one of Britain's most notorious gangsters. Desmond Noonan, 46, was found stabbed close to his Manchester home on March 18 and later died in hospital. He was killed just days before a documentary was aired on Channel Five in which he bragged to investigative reporter Donal MacIntyre about being linked to 25 murders. Derek McDuffus, 41, originally from the South Manchester area, has been charged with the murder of Noonan. Shajahan Cooke, 39, of Chorlton is accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice. Both were due to appear before Manchester Magistrates' Court this afternoon. Thursday, March 31, 2005 |
