| Who's Who in Media come to Coventry |

An impressive list of guest speakers is lined up for Coventry Conversations, the hugely successful series of free talks in which media movers and shakers come to Coventry University to share their secrets. From 5 October, however, the Conversations will be split between two locations as part of a media-sharing experience with the Herbert Museum and Art Gallery. The talks, which are open to the general public, will take place in the Ellen Terry building every other week on Thursday lunchtimes and alternate with the Herbert across the road for an early evening session. It is hoped that the evening talks will attract new and wider audiences who may find lunchtime sessions difficult to get to. The line-up of speakers booked for the series range from high powered media executives like Clive Jones, Head of ITV news to Andy Griffee, BBC Controller of English Regions. There are also writers of the calibre of screen-writer Andrew Davies (Bleak House, Pride and Prejudice) and novelist David Dabydeen. Media industry legends like George Jesse Turner, the cameraman who filmed the ‘7up' series, Sir Bob Worcester, who brought opinion polling to Britain and Gillian Reynolds the doyenne of radio criticism are also coming to Coventry. Finally, the series will feature prominent new figures like investigative journalist Donal Macintyre and Stuart Ramsey of Sky and Channel Five news. John Mair, the originator and organiser of the Conversations says: "We are delighted to be co-operating with the Herbert for this series of Coventry Conversations. This is exactly the sort of thing a University media department should do and we have hooked some significant people from the world of media and the arts to come and speak. In keeping with the previous two series, all the events are free and open to all." THE COVENTRY CONVERSATIONS START ON 5 OCTOBER, THROUGH TO 7 DECEMBER. The talks are free take place on Thursday lunchtimes at 1.00pm** in ETG 34 of the Ellen Terry building of Coventry University and alternative weeks on Thursday evenings in the cafeteria of the Herbert at 5.30pm for 6.00pm. -Ends- For more information and to arrange interviews contact John Mair on 07785 378156 or email: or Ali Bushnell, External Press and Media Relations Officer on 024 7688 8245 and Kerrie Davies, Creative Media Officer, Herbert Media on 024 7683 3276.
