City alumnus Donal MacIntyre hit the headlines late last year with his landmark BBC1 series MacIntyre Undercover.  Adopting the roles of football hooligan, care worker, bodyguard and fashion photographer, he gathered covert evidence of corruption, violence and exploitation, which was aired in a high-profile series of programmes.

London Marathon special 0

This Sunday, 35,000 people will pound the streets of London, beginning their 26-mile journey from Greenwich to The Mall in the Flora London Marathon, the world's biggest such event. More than 500,000 spectators will line the route, and charities hope to raise as much as £40 million.

The General Dental Council says it regulates dentists and protects patients. But MacIntyre travels the country meeting people who have suffered at the hands of rogue dentists, and reveals the way the system fails the patient it's supposed to protect.

Return To school for the BBC 0

Donal returns to Greenford School, in Southhall – a regular haunt of his – with a BBC crew to discuss the emerging confidence in the Pakistani community. Donal contributes to the programme and discusses the differences between the Irish and the other immigrant experiences for a new BBC2 series to be broadcast in March 2005.

Donal sponsors the School documentary competition.

Channel hopping for Charity 0

Donal is to swim the English Channel next August for the learning disabled charity MENCAP. "I needed an explanation for my expanding waist line and thought that this would do." Swimmers are required to put on weight to protect them from the cold. This is goin to be a trial run for the full event next year – although if he is lucky he may not need the extra year's trainig.
